About CLAT

Common Law Admission Test (CLAT)

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is an all-India entrance examination designed for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate programs in various National Law Universities (NLUs) and other institutions across India. CLAT assesses a candidate’s aptitude in areas such as English, mathematics, logical reasoning, legal reasoning, and general knowledge. It serves as a competitive and standardized way for students to gain admission to some of the top law schools in India, making it a crucial examination for those aspiring to pursue a legal education and a career in the field of law.

CLAT Eligibility criteria

The eligibility criteria for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) vary depending on whether you are applying for an undergraduate or postgraduate law program.

Undergraduate CLAT Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the undergraduate CLAT, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: You must have passed the 12th standard or its equivalent examination from a recognized board or university.
  • Minimum Percentage: You must have secured at least 50% marks (45% for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates) in the qualifying examination.
  • Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for applying to the undergraduate CLAT.

Postgraduate CLAT Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the postgraduate CLAT, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: You must have a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree or its equivalent from a recognized university.
  • Minimum Percentage: You must have secured at least 50% marks (45% for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates) in the LLB degree.
  • Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for applying to the postgraduate CLAT.

Important Instructions for CLAT Exam

  • Reach the exam center well in advance to avoid any last-minute rush.

  • Carry your CLAT admit card, photo ID proof, and other required documents.

  • Do not carry any electronic devices, including mobile phones, calculators, or smartwatches, into the exam hall.

  • Follow the exam instructions carefully.
